In 2001 Glen and Monique Ueckerman founded Larderfresh on the idea of producing top-of-the-range fine foods and gourmet products without preservatives or additives. And, best of all, without a hefty price tag!
Larderfresh launched their first product, Roasted Almond Nougat, in September 2002 at the Collingwood Farmers' Market. It proved to be a great success. By the following year not only was Larderfresh supplying other farmers' markets - St. Kilda, Hawthorn and Red Hill - their Roasted Almond Nougat had attracted various prestigious clients, including the corporate hamper firm of Present Company Included.
Word spread about the quality of their nougat and with demand came the need to improve and develop new lines. Added to Larderfresh's original Roasted Almost Nougat are Roasted Almond Nougat with Italian Coffee and the beautiful Pistachio Nougat with Cranberries. Today, their nougat is available at many specialised delicatessens throughout Melbourne.
By late 2004 Larderfresh ushered in an innovative concept in healthy gourmet foods - Middle Eastern Style Falafel. Like their nougat, the Falafel is gluten free, without preservatives, additives or fillers, but with emphasise on flavour that can only come by using the best in organic local produce.
After a six-month trial period among Middle Eastern food stores in Melbourne's North, Larderfresh's Falafel has become a much sought-after product. Not only has the Falafel taken the retail market by storm, especially with organic food stores, this unique product is used in falafel wraps at excellent gourmet cafes across Melbourne.
The efforts of Larderfresh have not gone unnoticed. In March 2006, Larderfresh was personally invited by the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival to sell their Falafel wraps and salads amid the festivities of the Commonwealth Games.
For the past three years Larderfresh has been invited to participate at high profile food festivals, including the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, The Age Harvest Picnic at Hanging Rock and the Slow Food Weekend in mid-2005.
Larderfresh prides itself on using only the freshest of ingredients with no preservatives, additives or fillers. That's why for three years running Larderfresh has garnered an award for each of their products.
